Youth Martial Arts and Teen Mixed Martial Arts

Six Weeks on Thursdays in July and August

July 8, 15, and 22 and August 5, 12, and 19

*Sorry, program fees are non-refundable.  Credits will be issued for future programs for any cancellations. 

Martial Arts and Mixed Martial Arts - Fee $60

Middle School / Choral Classroom (Gym Entrance) - Instructor: Allen Scott

(Ages 4 – 7) 5:00 – 5:45 p.m. / (Ages 8 – 12) 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. /  (Ages 13+) Mixed Martial Arts  7:00 – 7:45 p.m.

Instructor Allen Scott is a third degree Black Belt who has trained in the martial arts for more than 25 years.  He owns a Martial Arts School in Lakeville.  Classes include limited contact and promote the development of personal skills self-defense, personal protection, non-violent conflict resolution, increase confidence, self-esteem, etc.

Mixed Martial Arts - Come train in the fastest growing sport today.  Learn the skills top athletes employ: wrestling, jiu-jitsu, boxing, kickboxing, etc.  Increase cardio, agility and general fitness.  This is a great cross training for other sports  All classes involve limited contact in a safe, supervised environment.

 Students should wear loose / comfortable clothes

Ultimate Frisbee for Grades 9 - 12

Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting, non-contact team sport, played by thousands all over the world. It mixes the best features of sports such as Soccer, Basketball, American Football and Netball into an elegantly simple yet fascinating and demanding game. The simplicity of the rules means it's easy and fun for newcomers to pick up.

Sunday afternoons on July 11, 18 and 25 and August 1, 8 and 15

FLBC Girls Basketball Camp 2010

The middle school and beginning high school years are vital not only for developing fundamental basketball skills but also for learning the importance of positive behavior, leadership, and teamwork in sports and in life. The goal of this camp is to give girls entering grades 6-9 the opportunity to develop their basketball ability while learning about the game, practicing good sportsmanship, and having fun.   

Cost: $150.00 per camper     

Includes:?   Camp T-Shirt?   Packaged Lunch Provided by  The Back Nine Club     

We will also have a concession stand with water, sports drinks, snacks, and candy available for purchase. 

Some of Our Coaches Include? 

Catie Furtado Catie is an 8th grade English teacher and girls� basketball coach at Freetown-Lakeville Middle School. A graduate of Taunton High School, she was a 1,000 point scorer and the 2002 winner of the Dave Cowen�s Award.  She attended Bridgewater State College and played on the women�s basketball team for four seasons. While at BSC, Catie scored over 900 points and holds the single-game scoring record. She was named to the ESPN The Magazine All-Academic Second Team, received BSC�s Student-Athlete Leadership Award and All-Conference honors, and was a two-year captain.  

Jessica Worden   Jess, a Rockland native, is a special education teacher at North Quincy High School and a certified personal trainer. She is an assistant coach for the Bridgewater State College women�s basketball team, who were regular-season league champions this past season. Jess was a member of the 1999-2000 state champion girls� basketball team at Rockland High School. A 2006 graduate of BSC, she played on the women�s basketball team from 2001 to 2005 and scored 1,072 points.  Jess was a two-year captain and received All-Conference honors in her last two seasons.  

Peter Gallagher  Peter is a 2001 graduate of Apponequet High School and a 2005 graduate of Sacred Heart University. He coached the Team Connecticut AAU girls� basketball team to state championships in 2004 and 2006 and a trip to the national tournament in 2006. Pete has coached the freshmen girls� basketball team at Apponequet and currently coaches the FLBC Lakers AAU basketball team.

2010 Strength and Conditioning 8-Week Summer Camp

Grades: 9*– 12 (Going into 10/11 school year) / Dates : June 28 – August 20 (No camp on 07/05)

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday / Time: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Location: Apponequet High School (Weight Room) / Total Fee: $185 Residents / $195 Non-Residents

 Grades: 7 – 9* (Going into 10/11 school year) / Dates: June 28 – August 20 (No camp on 07/05)

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays / Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Location: Apponequet High School (Weight Room) / Total Fee: $125 Residents / $135 Non-Residents

A $25 deposit must be received by Friday, June 11, to hold your spot in the camp.  The balance of either $160 (Grades 9 – 12) or

$100 for (Grades 7 – 9) must be paid on the first day of camp on June 28.  For everyone that sends in the $25 deposit by June 18, one winner will be chosen to receive a $100 credit towards this camp. 

*Grade 9 participants can choose to attend either the 5-day workout (Grades 9-12) or the 3-day workout (Grades 7-9).  It is their preference. 

Develop a level of personal fitness that will allow an opportunity to be successful at whatever activity you choose.  A knowledgeable staff, directed by Head Trainer, Dave Nasiff, will provide participants with sports specific training to help them reach maximum performance.  All campers receive one FREE camp T-shirt.  Additional t-shirts may be purchased for a fee of $6.00.  Please bring a water bottle.

  Campers will learn various training methods such as: Weight Training - Medicine Ball Training - Stability Training -

  -  Speed & Agility Training - Balance Training - Endurance Training.   (We are adding new equipment yearly). 

Last year,  $2,500 in weights for the Weight Room has been purchased.  This year, an adjustable cable crossover unit has been purchased and this new equipment will be available for this summer camp.

 Donna Pinto’s Summer Art Camp Registration Form for Grades: 1 – 3 (All supplies will be provided!)

Fee:  One-Time Registration Fee of $10 plus $25 a day or $70 for all three days from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Kids cafι available in afternoon).  Location:  Freetown-Lakeville Middle School Cafeteria.   

July 19 – Day One: Canvas Bag and T-Shirt Painting -Using fabric markers and paints, children will design their own bags and t-shirts using stencils and their imagination.

July 21 – Day Two: Sculpture and Design - Children will learn about sculpture techniques and apply these techniques to create their own masterpiece. We will explore sculptures of famous artists.

July 23 - Day Three: Creating Your Own Comic Book - Children will use special markers to create their own cartoon characters and plots for their books.  This is a HUGE favorite for children. 

A one-time non-refundable registration fee for ALL Com Rec summer camps is required.   You only need to pay a $10 registration fee with the registration form to reserve your spot in camp by June 18, 2010.  Balance must be paid by July 9, 2010 to attend camp.

Art Camp Grades 1-3 Registration Form

August 9 - Day One: Comic Book and Cartoon Illustration- Children will use different cartooning techniques to explore and create their own personalized comic book.  Children will create their own cartooning style and technique.  This is a favorite among children.

August 10 – Day Two: Nature Drawing - Children will be drawing and sketching from nature in journals.  We will use these sketches and create water color paintings from the nature sketches the children create.

August 11 - Day Three:  Sculpture Design - Children will learn about famous sculptures and their techniques.  The children will create their own sculpture using sculpting tools.  They will explore various techniques used to create a sculpture masterpiece.

August 12 – Day Four: Outdoor Acrylic Painting - Using a canvas, brushes, and paint, children will explore the outdoors and paint from nature.  Painting techniques and designs will be taught. 

August 13 – Day Five: Abstract Art - Children will learn and explore the world of abstract art.  We will use all kinds of mediums (pastel, colored pencils, markers, paints, rubber bands, and different types of collage material) to create an abstract piece of art.

5-Day Laker Field Hockey and Volleyball Summer Camps for Grades 4 – 9

Fee: $25 per day or $115 for all five days for each camp, plus a one-time $10 registration fee. Once you have paid the one-time registration fee, you do no need to pay a registration fee for any other camps.

Freetown-Lakeville Summer School Schedule

This program focuses on academic enrichment and advanced MCAS preparation.

Grades:     5, 6, 7, & 8

Dates:        July 14 – August 13

Days:        Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Times:       8:00 am – 10:00 am session I

                 10:00am – 12:00 noon session II

 Cost:        $380.00 + workbooks ($7.00 each subject) per student/ per session

 *30 class hours are the mandatory attendance requirements to earn a

Certificate of Completion. A grade of C (75%) is required to be eligible for      promotion.
