Donna Pinto’s Comic Book Art Class - Come and create your own comic book.  We will use bubbles and comic book paper to create your own personalized comic book.  Please come to class with an idea for a character or a plot.  All supplies will be provided.  Class is limited to 15 students.

02/13/10 -Donna Pinto’s Valentine’s Art Craft Class -RESCHEDULED TO FEBRUARY 13!!

Come and create special valentine cards for family and friends.  We will use collage material to create unique valentine cards for that special someone. This is a creative class for children to create their own cards using their imagination. All types of material will be available for the student to experiment with.  The children will leave the class with a portfolio of cards. All supplies will be provided.  Class is limited to 15 students.

KARATE & MARTIAL ARTS – Winter II 2010 SESSION 

Seven Weeks on Thursdays in February – April of 2010 (Starts the week after February vacation) 

Dates: 02/25, 03/04, 03/11, 03/18, 03/25, 04/01 and 04/08

         Ages 4 – 7      (Boys & Girls)        5:00 – 5:45 p.m.       NEW TIME

Ages 8 – 12   (Boys & Girls)        6:00 – 6:45 p.m.       NEW TIME

 Location: Freetown – Lakeville Middle School - Choral Classroom (Gym Entrance) 

Fee: $70 (This price already includes a $10 non-refundable registration fee.  Only credits will be issued for future programs for any cancellations). 

Classes include limited contact and promote the development of personal skills such as: 

-          Self-Defense and Personal Protection

-          Non-Violent Conflict Resolution

-          Improve Fitness, Coordination, Strength and Flexibility

-          Improve Concentration, Problem Solving and Goal Setting

-          Increase Confidence, Self Esteem, Communication & Leadership Skills 

Students should wear loose fitting clothes.

 Instructor Allen Scott is a third degree Black Belt who has trained in the martial arts for more than 25 years.  He owns a karate school in Lakeville.

Youth Baseball (Boys) Throwing Clinic

Grades 6 – 8 / Fee: $50*

 The Community Recreation Campus Programs Department has designed a clinic for the baseball player who is serious about getting his body in good throwing condition for the upcoming spring season.  Instruction will promote good arm care in the form of mechanics, conditioning, and frequency. This session is limited in size and will be conducted inside and outside depending on weather conditions.

Days: Mondays and Wednesdays

 Dates: 02/22, 02/24, 03/01, 03/03, 03/08, 03/10, 03/15 and 03/17

 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. @ FLMS Gym (Please bring your own glove).

Sketching and Drawing Techniques Class - Come and learn some fun sketching and drawing techniques like the pros.  This class introduces various drawing techniques to help children create pictures with shading, light, perspective, and color.  It is a fun and creative class for all! 

Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2009 –        Grades 1 – 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Grades 4 – 8 from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Creative Cartooning - Spend time learning how to create your own unique cartooning style.  You will learn how to draw facial expressions, body movement, and other cartooning techniques.  We will use our cartoons to create our own individual comic books. 

Date: Saturday, January 9, 2010 -                 Grades 1 – 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Grades 4 – 8 from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The children will learn the techniques the first hour and apply them to a specific project in the second hour.  If you attended the last cartooning class, please bring your sketchbook.   A sketchbook will be provided for any students attending the class for the first time.  All other supplies will be provided.

A Theatre Workshop & Performance

Thursdays 5:00-6:00 (5-8 yr. olds)

                     6:00-7:00 (9-11 yr. olds)

Classes held at the Freetown/Lakeville Middle School Auditorium

 Join us in our young actor’s performance!  In this workshop we will focus on all the aspects of putting together a theatrical production.  You will learn how to use voice, movement and creativity to play the role of a lifetime.  The results will be an all out performance complete with scenery and costumes.

WINTER SOCCER SKILLS TRAINING 

REGISTRATION FEE:    $55.00

Starts week of November 2 through March 29 (Monday Nights Only)

We do not operate during school vacation weeks, half days or school cancellations due to weather.  The program is closed on 1/18/10 & 2/15/10 as well as other school holiday breaks.

 Skill training will focus on footwork, agility, fitness,      speed, passing, shooting and game tactics.
